That is frightening..... But a great idea, now if I only had an extra UPS laying around.

yeah, the power went out the other night and I had to wait like 10 minutes for my DirecTivo to reboot. How frustrating. Any idea what kind of backup time you might get with one of these hooked up to the home theatre essentials (DVR, Cable Box/Receiver)?

No very long at all. 10 - 15 minutes tops. Just long enough to deal with the temporary outages.
