In a ZDNet Blog, it was reported you can get Internet access while on a boat in the Gulf of Alaska. The rate appears to be about 250 kbps down. The sad thing is that I live in a major US city and the Speakeasy test shows that I am getting only 340kbps. Ugh. Now granted the people on a boat are getting a tiny fraction of upload speed compared to me and I am sure their latency is not great considering it being satellite based but still. I really need to look into whether my home wiring is at fault (see the photo inline) or I need to switch to Cable Broadband or IP over Powerlines.
